New Mini Documentary, ‘The Fairlight Story’

The Age & Sydney Morning Herald shared this short documentary, The Fairlight Story, that tells the story of the creation of the Fairlight CMI, its cultural impact and ultimate demise.

The story is told via interviews with Fairlight co-founders Kim Ryrie and Peter Vogel, as well as Fairlight engineer Peter Wielk and Professor Samantha Bennett of the ANU School of Music.

  1. The record was invented by a German Emil Berliner. This Fairlight story misses the origin of the Fairlight in Tony Furse’s work on digital sound and the Qasar – precursor to the CMI.
