Steiner Synthacon Reissue Now Available For Pre-Order

Nyle Steiner and Robbie Connolly have announced that the Steiner-Connolly Synthacon is now available to pre-order.

The original Steiner-Parker Synthacon is a rare ’70s keyboard monophonic synthesizer. It has a three-VCO design, similar to the Moog Minimoog, but has a unique sound and expanded synthesis options, including sample & hold and a multi-mode VCF.

The Steiner-Connolly Synthacon is designed to be a faithful, full-size reissue of the original, recreated under the direction of the original designer.

Here’s what they have to say about it:

“For those of you who haven’t seen it yet, the Synthacon is back!

This is an authentic, discrete, through hole recreation of this iconic 70’s synthesizer under the direction of Nyle Steiner himself.

We have added midi via a FATAR keybed, and a couple new features, but this unit has been tediously recreated right down to the original circuit board design and vintage components.”

Pricing and Availability

The Steiner-Connolly Synthacon is available now to pre-order for $3,000 USD. Contact the company at [email protected] for details.

  1. The fact that you can get a brand new Prophet 5, ARP 2600, Moog Modular, an OB-X8 and now a Synthacon is mind-boggling to me.

I’ve been into synths since I heard Clockwork Orange and Switched On Bach in the 70s, so these instruments have been unobtainium for most of my life.

Yamaha needs to get with the program and create a modern take on the CS-80!

  2. This will sound like Arturia Minibrute as it also have this Steiner-filter?

But I think they should established a webpage or something before this announcement including delivery…etc…

  3. Super Xciting to see this Synth get re-Released – assuming it SOUNDS LIKE THE ORIGINAL! I have an Orig Synthacon, and what’s so great about it is that it doesn’t compete with your Mini, Odyssey, etc. It has its own sound – and it’s a great sound. I feel the vids of the Synthacon on Youtube show the Synthacon to be a “Noise Maker.” The fact is that it stays in tune really well, and it’s very usable as a Musical and Melodic Synth – with its own sound.

  4. I was at a recording session in Florida. It was hot. Really hot. One of the performers had set up a particular patch on the Synthacon and it wasn’t working…until he twigged that the problem was overheating. He fanned the front panel madly and the patch started behaving.

I can only hope that the new Synthacon will still support this feature.

  5. A fave! I remember when these were going for a few thousand in ebay and I nearly got one…..

I’m glad to see the availability of amazing synths on the rise for the last decade or two.

  6. My synthacon blew out several of my mid~range speakers through out the years, all my samplers and digital stuff sounded like pillows were placed in front of the speakers. Discrete components like the old not LSI hope in re~release.
