The ARP Odyssey 50th Anniversary

As part of this weekend’s Alan R. Pearlman Foundation synthposium, 2022: A Fifty-Year ARP Odyssey, the Foundation released this video by Alex Ball.

The video  – a kick-off for the November 5th event – is part ARP Odyssey history, part tech-talk and lots of audio demonstrations of the classic synth design.

2022: A Fifty-Year ARP Odyssey was held at the David Friend Recital Hall in Boston MA, and hosted by The Berklee College of Music’s Electronic Production and Design Department. The event featured Herbie Hancock, Lisa Bella Donna, Greg Phillinganes , Rupert Greenall, David Friend, Mark Vail, Billy Currie, Michael Stein & Kyle Dixon, DJ Cherish the Love, Danz, Drew Schlesinger, Ian Staer, Jamie Billings, Dr. Mike Metlay, Alex Ball, Dave Fredericks, Tom Piggott, Alison Cassidy, Bill T. Miller, the Berklee Synthesizer Ensemble, the Jennifer Hruska Group, BØLT and many others.

  1. My Odyssey date code is 7244 (written under the filter, visible only when I removed it), so build 44th week of 1972, which is prettry much exaclty 50 years ago!

  2. Odyssey is a great synth architecture, no matter who manufactured it. I’ve had an og arp, a reissued korg, and a behringer. they all sound/ed very nice!
