Sinevibes has released Dipole 2, a Multi-Engine effect that they call “the tastiest flanger effect” for Korg synths.
Dipole is a through-zero flanger plugin for the Korg prologue, minilogue xd and NTS-1. It combines two delay lines, with one able to run earlier or later in time relatively to the other, plus a switching feedback signal routing. Right around the zero time difference between the delays, this algorithm produces a “jet fly-by” effect with positive feedback – or full sound cancellation with negative feedback.

It makes me angry to see how Korg has fumbled on supporting the Prologue. As I understand it, they’ve retired it, without ever really putting effort into raising awareness of the possibilities of the Multi-Engine. They should have released a series of free plugins, so people could see that the Prologue’s capabilities could expand over time, and developers would know that this was something that was going to be supported.
Instead, they released a single plugin, ever. Come on, how much work would it be to release official ports of the Mutable Instruments oscillators? There are already open source ones out there. I would have loved to see Valhalla port some of their reverbs to the platform, too.
Chiara, my take is Prologue would have been a loss to produce recently; 19 CPU’s would have swamped the cost to manufacture a P16. there was already trouble with the power supply certification in europe complicating production. I am hoping that product delivery was merely delayed – along with everyone else – we have drumlogue as a continuing commitment to products in this space. there was significant reworking of the drumlogue SDK environment, so work is still being done somewhere. I suspect though, in the end it wasn’t popular enough to do another version of the keyboard synths.

personally, I would have preferred a bit more documentation and some community organization. there are a number of very bright folks continuing to do respectable work on oscillators and effects. if there was a way to marshal the knowledge and techniques, it would be have been formidable.

my goto is always SV’s Whirl. love Blend, Ethereal, Droplets, Albedo, Drift. the builtins always sound a bit dull after a round of SV’s! I have Eventide’s H9 hanging off everything at the same time, and while many of effects for Logues are excellent, SV’s hang with the ‘big boys’. :0) .
