I have the Wavestate (and Native) and the Opsix, but I just don’t like the sound of the Modwave.
Is it just me? It just sounds too harsh and metallic
All three of the synths in this lineup are able to compete way above their seeming weight class. Its a bit of an annoyance that the MIDI CCs don’t translate directly from hardware to software. Most similar plugs do that with their hardware. That’s the kind of workflow disconnect that leads to diminishing returns.
If you can live with that flaw, the rest seems pretty minor. I’m enjoying Wavestate native, so the MoDWave version is easy to recommend. I appreciate seeing all the parameters up-front, because boy, there are a lot of them. That WS money was well-spent.
Agree 100%.
I got in on the OpSix deal and found it to be hugely underrated. It’s one of the top hardware FM synths ever made and sounds great.
That, of course, led to me picking up a used Wavestate, which is just as much of a beast. The Modwave is now a wish list item.
The trio of the Opsix, Modwave & Wavestate got introduced at a bad time, because of the pandemic, and are underrated. But they are future classics.
