New Plugin, 4Trak, Is Like A Tascam Portastudio For Ableton Live

Inner Ocean Records has introduced Inner Ocean 4Trak, a Max for Live Device that’s inspired by the tape looping and audio manipulation workflow of a 4-track Tascam Portastudio.

Here’s an intro from designer Peter Bark:

Here are tips for getting started with 4Trak:

Here’s what they have to say about c:

“Designed and built in partnership with Peter Bark and Woulg, we spent over 2 years refining and perfecting this device until we knew that we had landed on something super special and unique that doesn’t exist anywhere else.

It’s no secret we love all things analog, both in the music creation process and for listening formats. As creators ourselves, we wanted the sound and workflow of playing with audio on a hardware tape unit but with the convenience and expanded functionality of working in the box. With hardware tape units becoming harder to find and getting a lot more expensive, the Inner Ocean 4trak makes it super easy for any sound creator to start experimenting with tape loops.”

Pricing and Availability:

4Trak is available now with an intro price of $20 USD (normally $30).

  1. I bought this the other day and like a lot of other M4L devices, it does more than I need it to but its still pretty great. Being able to drag and drop sounds and make some pretty instant loops with noise/found sounds is a great feature when combined with speed control and setting the loop length with fades on the ends. Was some instant fun with resampling.
