Suzuki Omnichord Reissue Coming In Fall Of 2023

Suzuki has announced that a reissue of the Omnichord is coming in the fall of 2023, to celebrate the company’s 70th anniversary:

“In the 1980s, the electronic musical instrument ‘Omnichord’ gained tremendous popularity among gadget-loving music lovers for its quirky look and tone.

We have been receiving requests to resurrect the Omnichord for a long time. And this year, 2023, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of Suzuki Musical Instruments Manufacturing, we will reproduce the Omnichord!

It is scheduled to be released around the fall of 2023. “

Suzuki has released several versions of the Omnichord, starting in 1981 with the OM-27. It was originally intended to be a folk instrument – an electronic take on the auto-harp. It’s been used notably by musicians ranging from Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois to Damon Albarn of Gorillaz.

Details on the Suzuki Omnichord anniversary reissue are to come.

      1. I understand the irony here in this reply, but does a latent interested buyer not have any value, if they are gone due to alternative cheaper choices? [Indirect price/interest-drop]

        1. yup, id go +3 on that, i have three so far ( the 23, 27 and Qchord) and the one we all need is the last grey one before the Q that had the best compromise of onboard sound and midi

          1. I have the one pictured above but my brother chucked it out the second floor window, damaged beyond repair. I had the grey one with midi out but it supposedly got water damage at a friends house. These puppies were my secret weapon when used in conjunction with an autowah and the aux in on the korg emx 1.

      1. have you ever tried to use the q chords midi…it is a hot mess… gets sent over multiple channels on basically a one channel per octave range for the strum , plus others for bass, drums etc…i am really hoping they choose to reissue the model BEFORE the Q chord as that had all the original character plus simple midi out

  1. Will be an insta-buy with some decent polyphony and at least some basic ADSR adjustment to bring it up to the 21st century. MIDI and some basic FX would also be welcome.

  2. Can Suzuki get a couple of cases pre-release to that FolkTek dude? They could sell them as limited circuit-bent editions.
