Donner D1 Drum Machine Debuts At 2023 NAMM Show

At the 2023 NAMM Show, held April 13-15 in Anaheim, CA, Donner – makers of the B1 Analog Bassline Synth – introduced the Essential D1 Drum Machine, a 12-channel sample-based drum machine.

They say that it’s aimed at the entry-level market, “offering a simplified, yet inspiring user interface” and offers both real-time recording and step sequencing workflows.

        1. The comment from Logan Torres (from Donner) on the youtube page is super helpful. You can’t sample directly, but you can upload samples to it. The aux-in is just for mixing in another sound source.

          Looks quite interesting anyway.

  1. I don’t understand the presenters answer to the interviewer on 02:25.

    Interviewer: “What is the purpose of the AUX input?”
    Presenter: “Yes, it is a hole”

    ……..Can it sample with AUX in or not?

  2. I feel sorry for that guy. The product is obviously not ready. And he doesn’t seem to know much about it. I like their bass synth so I’ll keep an eye on this. Could be fun.

  3. I’m begging this company to consider renaming itself before they get too far along. I realize this Donner Co is a global corporation and not everyone is aware of the depravity of 19th Century western US exploration, but i mean, it’s just a simple internet search…
