Roland System 100 Vintage Synth Demo

In his latest video, synthesist Alex Ball takes an in-depth look at the rare vintage Roland System 100.

The Roland System 100, introduced in 1975, consisted of 5 components:

  • The Synthesizer 101;
  • Expander 102;
  • Mixer 103;
  • Sequencer 104; and
  • Monitor Speakers 109.

The System 100 let you start with the Synthesizer 101 and have a completely functional system. But it also let you expand your setup, component by component, into a powerful studio system.

The System 100 has been used notably by electronic musicians for decades, ranging from Aphex Twin to Vangelis.

In the video, Ball covers the functionality of the System 100 and offers extensive audio demos of synth in action.
