Arturia Introduces ‘Freakier’ Firmware Update for MicroFreak

Ahead of Superbooth 2023, being held in Berlin May 11-13, Arturia has announced another major firmware update for the MicroFreak.

Arturia MicroFreak version 5 is a massive update that adds 4 new engines and allows users to load their own samples and use them with one of the four new sample/granular engines. It’s a free update for all MicroFreak owners.;

Here’s what’s new in MicroFreak v5.0:

  • New sampling engine: Manipulate and trigger recorded audio using MicroFreak.
  • 3 new granular engines: Scan, Cloud, and Hit modes for Freaky granular exploration.
  • New Preset factory

Using MIDI Control Center, you can import your own samples, up to 24 seconds long. You can then send them to MicroFreak.

The new v5 Firmware will be available for download on May 30th, 2023. See the Arturia site for more info.

  1. ooo cool – my MF has been on the shelf for a bit but with a sampling engine I think I will have to break it out again

  2. This is awesome!
    Arturia just keep on giving with the Micro Freak.
    I love mine. It’s a bit quirky, but damn can it sound good!

    1. Completely agreed. What a great move on their part to keep support ongoing. Them, Novation, ASM, and Akai are the companies most deserving of praise for adopting this kind of approach.

      1. Elektron and ISLA as well. Digital hardware has quite a bit of an edge these days, because some extra processing power, memory and disc space comes cheap these days; it’s good some companies think ahead and don’t cripple themselves by counting beans at the get go.
