Stranger Things Live coming To San Francisco June 4th

Event Producers Mercury Soul have announced a rare performance by the composers behind the pop culture phenomenon Stranger Things.

Composers Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, who have a Primetime Emmy Award and two Grammy nominations for their score, will perform at San Francisco’s The Midway on Sunday, June 4th, 2023. The event will offer the San Francisco premiere of the score.

Dixon and Stein’s use of analog synthesizers will be contextualized within the history of the pipe organ, with an opening organ performance featuring the music of Bach and Messiaen.

It’s an all-ages event. Tickets are available now, starting at $35.

    1. If you really want to avoid crime, stay out of Missouri, not California.

St Louis and Kansas City are two of the murder capitals of the country. St Louis has 10 times the murder rate of San Francisco.

Right wing media likes to hype crime in blue state cities, so they always talk about total numbers of crimes, which are higher in big cities, instead of talking about crimes per capita.

Per-capita stats are damning. You’re 40% more likely to get murdered in a red state than a blue one:

        1. If your state is a crime-infested hell-hole, your mayor can’t fix that.

The top 5 states for getting murdered are all red states:

          1. Louisiana – 22.9 (murders per 100k)
          2. Missouri – 18
          3. South Carolina – 17.4
          4. Arkansas – 16.1
          5. Tennessee – 14

You’re 15 times more likely to get murdered in a deep red state like Louisiana than in a deep blue state like New Hampshire.

The stats are truly damning. Lousiana is as dangerous as Columbia or Mexico.

The San Francisco crime rate is average for a big city in the US. If you think otherwise, you’ve been brainwashed by right-wing media.

          1. ok but break it down by county i guarantee it’s blue counties only where the crime is happening. all those big cities in red states are dark blue.

again, the local elections actually have higher impact on the local crime rate.

name 3 high crime cities led by a red mayor and council. i can’t find info on one.

          2. my comment was about theft not murder

it should be pretty obvious unless you are some kind of “genius” or whatever

            1. And my response was “If you really want to avoid crime, stay out of Missouri, not California.”

Reading Is Fundamental, Sabazios. Maybe if you read more, you’d be able to make an intelligent argument, or at least say something smarter than “dont cry about the butthurt”.

If you’re living in one of the conservative third-world states, you’re too worried about getting murdered to worry about getting ripped off. This is why everybody thinks they need to have a gun in the South.

The same states have the worst overall crime rates overall. Lousiana is #1 for theft. Avoid Louisiana, if you want to be safe and not get ripped off. And Missouri and Alaska.

The good news is that crime has been going down in the US for 25 years. The lowest crime rates are in the solid blue Northeastern US. The highest crime rates are in red states, where less progress has been made.

Not sure if its because Republican policies result in higher crime, or if Republicans talking tough on crime are just more likely to get elected in high-crime states. Either way, avoid red states if you want to avoid getting murdered or ripped off.

    2. Is it that bad?

Can’t say I know a thing about that city besides that it being ridiculously expensive and thus plagued by homeless folks. Is that where the rampant theft comes from?

  1. Yeah, I was just at GDC. I would suggest not going unless you already live there, then you probably already know the drill.

  2. Saw them in London, it was so bad that the audience didn’t even applaud for about a minute after the gig and then only ambarassed applause from a few people with a few half-hearted whoops. Rain check before attending

  3. dont cry about all that butthurt you wanted and asked for and are now receiving, SF natives and their apologists
