Valhalla DSP has released Valhalla Supermassive 5.0, a major update to their free reverb effect plugin.
Here’s what’s new in Valhalla Supermassive 5.0:
- New reverb/delay mode: Sirius
- Previous/next arrows to quickly scroll through the different Modes.
Here’s what they have to say about Sirius:
“The Sirius mode excels at short to long reverbs that remain clear throughout their whole decay.
The Low Cut and High Cut filters in Sirius are more powerful than in most Supermassive modes, and are useful in obtaining realistic high frequency decays, as well as reverbs where the low frequencies thin out with the decay. The echos from Sirius are more standard echoes than some of the other modes, which makes Sirius useful for modulated delays.
We’ve found Sirius to be more of a “workhorse” mode versus super strange, but the long reverbs can get into some super spacey territory. The LATE 2025 presets folder showcases some of the best Sirius applications, and is a great place to start learning how to use this new mode.”
Valhalla Supermassive is considered by many to be one of the best free audio effects plugins available. It’s available now as a free download.
Best of the best of the best just got better again… 🙂
I find Supermassive quite useful. I bought their Delay, which is a perfect partner for it. Both are just tweakable enough in all the right places, without becoming fidgety. Valhalla offers some other processors like Ubermod, one of the best friends a space cadet could have.

I have 3 of their paid plug ins and they really work for me. i dont need supper realistic sounding plug ins, I want to hear the effect and for it to take un-natural directions when asked. They do this in spades.
The do do this in spades
But the only thing missing from their lineup is something realistic
A convolution hybrid type thing
That and a few pedals. They should make a few pedals
The best free gift that keeps on giving
