Embodme Intros ERAE Sound, ‘First Synth Designed For An Expressive Surface’

Embodme today introduced ERAE Sound, a new software synthesizer that they describe as “The first synthesizer designed for an expressive surface. Not adapted — built from scratch.”

ERAE Sound features 83 instruments, each designed to offer its own ‘feel’ and way of being played.

Here’s a demo of a variety of the sounds:

While ERAE Sound is optimized for the ERAE Touch, it’s compatible with any MPE controller, and works with all major DAWs — Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Bitwig and more.

Note: Full MPE expression (slide, pressure, release velocity) requires an MPE-compatible DAW. It works as a standard instrument in non-MPE DAWs.

Pricing and Availability:

ERAE Sound is available now for 79€ / $89 USD / £69 GBP.

  1. ‘First Synth Designed For An Expressive Surface’ – Such nonsense, as Haken created theirs more than 15 years ago. And I am sure people who use plugins can point to more in between the Eagan Matrix and this one…

  2. The Touch is tempting. The synth software already feels like a mix between Serum and the Eigenharp, while being less inscrutable. MPE is a big leap to take after years of playing traditional American Guild of Organists-type keys on synths. I don’t want to divide my efforts too much, but I suspect I’m going to give it a go soon.

  3. For me it sounds terrible and lame. One of the worst and uninspiring plugins I‘ve heard during the last years. Sounds like a plugin from the beginning of VST‘s
I also never had a demo version which only worked for 5 minutes…for one single time! So use your 5 minutes of fame wisely.
I hope that thy will change it. I started the software, changed some config settings, attach my Erae and…time was over and never could give it a try again. Jeeze…

  4. I got this and can say there a number of useful sounds, and the integration with changing surfaces tied to each patch to get the most out of the sound is really nice and unique. The firmware update did blow away my custom layout, but it was backed up during the install and I loaded that back into my usual slot (8) but there were 3 or 4 other slots that were blank, but not a big deal since I only used my one custom layout. Not every patch seems to be MPE, which makes sense for something like a harp sound.
