Hermetic Modular’s Capicola is a 12HP Eurorack module that uses a keyframe-based approach to stretch, pitch-shift, slice and distort stereo audio in real time.
Its core technology, called Extrema Sampling, converts 48kHz audio into a non-uniform stream of keyframes representing local peaks and valleys.
The keyframe representation is then used for time stretching, slicing and nonlinear processing. Pitch and time can be controlled independently, while envelope followers, external CV and triggers can be used to modulate the processor and create self-modulating patches.
