  1. All those folks paid $1699.99 for the limited edition version about 2-3 months ago? Am I wrong is is this just pretty messed up.

    1. I paid a little more than the standard price for the anniversary edition. At the time I decided to buy an Octatrack, the anniversary edition had just been announced so I just thought I’d go for it. The extra few quid it cost me was not a big deal. Its a beautiful machine!

          1. *misses joke?… must return to forums for further analysis

ps no hate, you are def technically correct. The best kind of correct.

        1. an update cpu is not what’s missing for usb-audio communication on the octatrack. we will need some kind of built in audio interface like the analog’s have inside (minus the converters)
with something like the octaedit you can mimic the overbridge editor and just input the audio to your audio interface. only 4 channels but It’s better like that anyway. I use to do it on the rytm mk2. The latency of overbridge was too big compering to my audio interface

          1. Not what I’ve heard on their forums, shrug, it was mentioned the processor was one of the components that needed to be upgraded to allow overbridge use.

    1. Octatrack so ahead of the curve that other machines still trying to catch up.

Also – how many companies have released major updates for 10 year-old gear?

  2. looks great and hardcore! I’m so happy they focus on what’s really important, the look of the instruments.
everything sounds great in my hands anyway
I always chooses instruments by the look and uniqueness. the original ot was the best looking machine from elektron, maybe accept for the sid station ninja…

        1. Sounds like you’ve never used one or that it’s too advanced for your needs.

If what you do is basic, any Elektron box is probably overcomplicated.

          1. On the contrary! What I do is far from basic,But Octatrack is stupidly overcomplicated and therefore no fun to use. Akais force for example is so far ahead of The Octa both in the studio and live that Elektron should be ashamed of themselves. Its also extremely flexible and super fun to use.

            1. so use your akai,
many will not want any drastic changes in the ot workflow. and the ot can do allot that the akai can’t touch.
this is not a competition, verity is good you know..

        1. not really, and you missed my point. daw are always complex.
the only thing that is really overcomplicated in new hardware is what you don’t know/rtfm/use

  3. This is cool but it’s cringeworthy that they keep rereleasing this product while staying committed to the use of Compact Flash cards.

  4. A color-change is normally a pretty telling sign. An updated (or even new) version is on the way. I’d advise to resist the buy this time around. Hold your horses… just for a while longer. 🙂

    1. they usually release products at the april/may trade shows, but pretty sure cycles came out at namm last year, so it’s been over a year now since they’ve released a product.

i’d like a new flagship, but i’m not holding my breath. i think the more likely release is a 1 osc 303ish thing in the model: range
