OSCiLLOT Puts A Complete Modular Synthesizer Into Ableton Live

Max for Cats has introduced OSCiLLOT – a complete modular system for Ableton Live.

OSCiLLOT offers more than 100 modules – including oscillators, processors, filters, mixers, modulators, amplifiers, shapers, sequencers, utilities and more. These comprise the basic building blocks of many electronic instruments and effects.

Here’s a video introduction to OSCiLLOT:

With OSCiLLOT, there is practically no limit to the type of instrument, sound or effect device you can make, once you start connecting modules. You can patch together your own FM, additive, and subtractive synthesizers, resonators, filters, envelopes, convolution reverbs, mixers, frequency shifters, sequencers, drum machines, logic modules, compressors, and waveshapers.

While hardware-based modular systems are usually monophonic, OSCiLLOT features up to six voices of polyphony.

OSCiLLOT is Expandable

Since OSCiLLOT is a Max for Live device, Max/MSP enthusiasts can make and modify their own modules – an SDK is available.

And if you already own a modular system or other CV/gate-enabled instruments, OSCiLLOT can interact with your hardware – provided you have a DC coupled audio interface.

Here is a collection of official audio demos of Max For Cats’ OSCiLLOT:

OSCiLLOT is available now via Ableton for US $99.

If you’ve used OSCiLLOT, leave a comment and share your thoughts on it!

    thats pretty intense, dude

  2. Hi, would this work with the expert sleepers es-40 hardware? there´s a max external available for it, so it should work, right?

    thanks!

  3. I’m intrigued. I wonder how heavy of a CPU footprint this puts out with several modules going. It’s reasonably priced, I might have to give this a go.

  4. Had to have a look at this as I’d been considering building something similar myself. The power of this thing is immense. I’ve really been blown away. The major difference between this and BEAP is that it allows you to patch without leaving the context of Live. You can create patches without having to open the max editor and create new Max patches which is all very cool. Having poked about a bit with the internals the stage is set for a few new features which I guess weren’t quite ready for release (multi select and things like that). In addition the SDK seems very easy to get one’s head round so making new modules shouldn’t be an issue (all the modules appear to be bpatchers). All in all I am very impressed and am looking forward to getting deep into this over the next few days.

  5. Hey someone from the staff said that the current version does not allow the feedback between modules… so its the same as BEAP as far as I can see. Go check maxforcats.com
