Jean Jacques Perrey’s New Album, Froots, A Collaboration With Cosmic Pocket

Happy synth-pop pioneerĀ Jean Jacques Perrey has announced a new full-length album, Froots, in collaboration with In Vitro artist Cosmic Pocket.

A longtime friend of Robert Moog, Perrey was one of the first pop musicians to experiment with splicing tape to create loops and sequences. His music is known for it’s light, humorous style.

“Today, more than ever, mankind continues to face so many negative influences,” Perrey says. “Many years ago I decided to make it my musical mission to contribute by bringing more optimism, humor and faith in the future to all my brothers and sisters of this planet.”

Though Perrey is in his 80s, he remains very active. He released a collaboration with Luke Vibert, Moog Acid, in 2007, and Destination Space with Dana Countryman in 2008.

Froots will be followed by a remix compilation, Froots Juice, which will include 29 remixes.
