If you were worried about married life turning Trent Reznor soft, think again.
Reznor and his wife Mariqueen have released their debut EP as How To Destroy Angels, the self-titled How To Destroy Angels.
It’s a free download (valid email required), like Reznor’s other recent releases.
If you’ve downloaded it, already, let me know what you think! If you haven’t, you can get a preview with the music video for HTDA’s The Space In Between.
So, so, so good. It's a lighter, chiller Reznor (the female vocals soften the music a bit), but still has all the juicy synths, guitars, and overall slick production we've come to love. I only regret that it's just an EP. I could use a few more tracks.
Hmmm, where to start. I have never been a huge NI? fan, thought his older works were pretty cool, but lost alot of interest over the past decade. Trent still suprises me once in a blue moon.
The recent promos posted recently sparked my interest with the video
" The Space in Between " and thought maybe Trents wife had rekindled
Trents passion so I was a bit anxious for the EP release. I woke up this morning
and downloaded the free EP and had a good listen. I put my media player
on repeat as I believe that one must have a listen a few times to get a real
feel for the content.
My overall opinion:
luke warm !
out of the six tracks offered on the free EP
the only two tracks that really stood out were " The Space in Between "
and " 04 BBB " started digging " The believers " untill they jumped on the
16bit bandwagon and it completely destroyed an otherwise decent track
so I won't even offer any props for that song.
I really anticipated more by the teasers offered, and thought there might have been
a oldskool NI? feel to it, but sadly, we are just thrown a bone with no meat on it.
2 out of 6 ? I'll be nice and give it a " D "
