Loom – Time and Tide (Froese, Schmoelling & Waters)

Sunday Synth Jam: Here’s something for Synthtopia’s Tangerine Dream fans – the music video preview for Loom‘s upcoming release Scored, shot during a October 2011 concert in Endhoven, NL. The album is planned to be released this month.

Loom is made up of Johannes Schmoelling and Jerome Froese, two long-time members of Tangerine Dream, and Robert Waters, a Berlin producer.

You can find out more about the group at the Loom site.

  1. This sounds EXACTLY like 80’s TD, before they got too new age-y. I love the mix of trippy sequences and crunchy guitars.

    Head exploding.

    Thanks for sharing this!

  2. It’s nice they still get together to play in that fashion, with such expertise. That way, I am not the least tempted to try to sound that <> and can be free to make my own dinky noises and discover a completely other kind of, perhaps not awesomeness, but something that stirs my imagination. This does not.

  3. Well, there is not much of a difference in this new formation. The sounds haven’t changed either. So to whom it may concern: enjoy it. I find this piece rather irrelevant and arbitrary. Maybe they can do better, I don’t know.
I respect Johannes Schmoellings Å“vre on his solo albums though.

  4. Fantastic stuff… can’t wait for the album. Hope this formation continues on with many more projects and is not just a ‘one-off’.

  5. I also have much respect for the musicians here but I have to agree with some of the other comments here, this is really nothing different from the stuff that TD were putting out in the 80s and 90s, it’s enjoyable pleasant music but nothing spectacular. From musicians such as Schmoelling who were so groundbreaking in, and even before the early days of synthesiser music this is a bit disappointing.

  6. Man, These Guys Are Interminable, Both TD & Loom as Former TD Members! Thank you Johannes, Jerome & Robert to make our Dream come true. 😉
