FabFilter has introduced a new distortion/saturation plugin for Mac & Windows, Saturn.
To be released on March 8, 2012, FabFilter Saturn is a multi-band distortion and saturation plug-in. According to FabFilter, it delivers ‘subtle, clean and warm tube or tape saturation to the wildest multi-band guitar amp effects’.
In this tutorial, Dan Worrall explains the basics of FabFilter Saturn. He starts with a simple single-band saturation example explaining the available algorithms and most important controls of the plug-in. Finally, he explains some more complex setups, using multiple bands and making use of the extensive modulation section.
Pricing is TBA.
Cool, a new FabFilter plugin! 🙂 I’m a bit a fanboy, but I just love their mixing/mastering plugins (Pro-Q/-C/-L). I think their stuff sounds really great and their pricing is reasonable (plus they have very fair discounts for students).
Saturn looks a bit like Audio Damage’s Kombinat DVA with some amp modelling – nice. Can’t wait to try it out 🙂
This looks fantastic! FabFilter makes THE best plug ins IMO. They’re easy to use, sexy, and sound great. I love how they are constantly giving things “synth-like” controls. LFOs and filters in places that you wouldn’t expect to find them, and are glad that you did. The modular style patching is super cool too. I will be getting this.
