This video demos a robo-xylophone music robot, built with the Makeblock robot building system.
Makeblock is an aluminum extrusion based construction system – sort of an Erector set for making robots and machines.
The Music Robot was built with Makeblock timing belt, sliding rail, step motor, electromagnet, motor driver and an Arduino Uno. The music robot can be computer-controlled via a USB cable or via a smartphone using BlueTooth.
Instructions detailing the DIY build are available on Instructables.
Supercool – I love the idea of DIY robot kits.
Pat Metheny’s huge Orchestrion project comes to mind. Check him out if you haven’t already.
Wouldn’t it be easier just to play ‘Twinkle twinkle’ manually? Would then only need the toy xylophone….
For lovers of technology – and long latency.
