  1. I’d be interested as to how fully featured it is, as in MIDI implementation, Audiobus etc.
But to be honest, I would have preferred an emulation of their SID unit.

    1. Totally agree with SID comment… It seems strange business wise to release product like this to already saturated market. With Sid groovebox emulation this would no doubt been a hit.

  2. Sounds like harsh digital crap to me. Nice failed experiment. ugh, so tired of seeing ipad app this ipad app that. I purchased a few of them, waste of money.

    1. The only waste around here is peoples’ time, reading your pointless post. If you don’t like the digital age get the hell off the internet. iPad music apps are really starting to mature but just like analogue gear there is a lot of shit being made and sold – it doesn’t represent everything iPad. You’re such a nob.

        1. Nave, PPG’s stuff, and now thor are also all professional quality, not to mention incredible midi applications like Konkreet performer, Lemur(!), and toucch osc just to name a couple.

  3. I kind of like the harshness and the imperfect emulation-sound the thing has, but my god, that filter was fully closed and it didn’t sound anywhere near where it should be. Needs work.

If the glide/accent sequencing tools can be used over MIDI or to sequence other iPad apps (I don’t have an iPad so I don’t know if that’s even possible) then that could be really useful.

  4. It is a poorly recorded video . Sounds to me like a built-in mic was recording from some speakers. Hopefully we will get a better demo later.

  5. I’m a a huge fan of mode machines but that sounds nothing like a 303 to my ears. Might be cool as a synth in its own right perhaps (outside the realm of 303 emu). Digital is irrelevant, I’ve heard some great 303 emulations.

        1. The trap is worrying too much about recreating the past.

The original 303 was a failure, because it was designed to be a replacement for a real bass player. They even advertised it with jazz player Oscar Peterson! All the jazz guys thought it was a terrible replacement for a real bass.

It took non-traditional musicians, who didn’t care if it matched the ‘real’ sound, to appreciate the 303 for what it could do.

Same with this – if you are worried about it matching the sound of 80’s techno, you’re not going to figure how to do something new or interesting with it.

    1. could you drop some links them?

A quick search for “tb 303” in app store right now just lead me for less than 10 results, and none seems a standalone tb 303 emulation.

    1. sure dude but I don’t have gnome fingers to tweak that UI. Don’t get me wrong, Rebirth is a classic state of art emulation of a TB, but the GUI really don’t work for a touch device

  6. well i thought it was cool. i kept thinking of if the thing had some delay to it it would have sounded awesome. also i could really hear some good psytrance bass lines with it.

  7. Yeah, ReBirth is the only way to go – Audiobus, MIDI sync, automation and most importantly SOUND – simply the best featured and sounding TB-303 emulations on any OS platform.

  8. By far the worst 303 emulation…if you like it for it’s sound, then all to ya…but this one is a massive FAIL for replicating what it’s supposed to. No one has replicated better than Propellerheads!

  9. Some are going to hate me now 🙂

If you want the 303 sound than buy a 303, if that is too expensive then go for the second best thing….
    Yes I do have a 303, a x0xb0x, a TT 303 and a ML 303 (V6) and I did use emulations as well…..
No VST/AU or PAD program can come near to “this” analog sound.
For someone that hasn’t used analog maybe nice sounding but in the mix it fails.

I think the Rebirth program as an emulator is still unbeatable (well written) but is miles away from the real thing.

If the emulation was a single program that does not pretend to be it can be a nice program, if it pretends to be than I say no

  10. I have to agree with Azoic….the apps for the IPAD are really coming of age….yes, there are still alot that are immature, but heck, the more that are written, the likelihood of more apps being wonderful… is mind blowing…whether some like it or not….a lot of musicians, of all genres, are using the IPAD in their mixes…..
