Ableton Live Meets LEGO Mindstorms With The Max For Live Connection Kit

At Superbooth 17, Ableton was showing a sort of Rube Goldberg musical contraption, based on LEGO Mindstorms robots and the Max For Live Connection Kit.

We talked with Ableton Certified Trainer Mark Towers, above, who gave us an overview of what you can do with the Connection Kit – including a LEGO theremin and a musical take on ‘whack-a-mole’.

The Connection Kit, which is a free download from the Ableton site, features 11 M4L devices that let you connect LEGO Mindstorms, Arduino or littleBits and use them with Ableton Live. This makes it easy to make wacky musical contraptions – or more serious interactive musical systems.

If you’ve used the M4L Connection Kit, leave a comment and let us know what you’re doing with it!
