Inside The Radiophonic Workshop In 1976

The BBC shared this 1976 video from their archives, which features Roger Limb, of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, demonstrating how electronic music was made for TV and radio.

Limb gives a layman introduction to the rare EMS Synthi 100, a rare modular synthesizer, built by Electronic Music Studios. Only about 30 EMS Synthi 100s were built.

The clips comes from the program An ABC of Music: E for Electronics.

  1. Fascinating! And really well articulated.

Had never realised that the pins could be left half way out on the patch panel so that you could effectively use it for performance. Might have to consider one for my Eurorack 🙂
