Reason 10.2 Bringing User-Requested Updates

Propellerhead has announced Reason 10.2 – an update that they say introduces user-requested features.

Here’s what they have to say about it:

Reason 10.2 is the result of your feedback on Reason 10, adding several workflow features.

View and edit MIDI across multiple lanes, adjust multiple faders in the mixer at once, snap notes to an adaptive grid based on zoom level, instantly use your controller with Easy MIDI Inputs, jump directly to rack devices from sequencer lanes and quickly add tracks in the sequencer or devices in the rack.

These improvements represent our ongoing commitment to your music-making, making it faster, easier and more natural.

Reason 10.2 will be available as a free update to Reason 10 on September 26th, after some public beta testing. See the Propellerhead site for details.

  1. Niiiiice! “View and edit MIDI across multiple lanes”. This was one of the last reasons (no pun) why I was still using a DAW other than Reason for certain stuff. “Not handling video” was another reason (still no pun), but now that it can handle VSTs, I can use a video-player plug in, and my reasons for not using Reason exclusively are almost down to nothing. Looking forward to trying this out.

  2. Been using cubase since the Atari and sequencing hardware. I have found midi only sequencing more fiddly and precarious as computers and software has supposedly developed.
I am looking for a simple midi only sequencing software. No bloat ware or soft synths. Will a company ever produce a sequencer for those of us using hardware equipment in studio environments. Please.

  3. Awesome, signed up for the Beta test, me and my friend started in Electronic Music about 16 years ago, we got to use his brother’s box of Reason stuff and learnt a lot (version 5 IIRC) it has definitely come a LONG way since then, I still use Recycle! to this day for some loops, it’s got a nice, easy pitch parameter…
    VSTs are awesome.

My largest wish for ALL DAWs is user-definable PPQN settings, as much as I’m about synthesis in general, I’m also an avid lover of the inner workings of sequencers; clocks, crystal timers, CPUs, resolutions, PPQN, divisions, etc.

For some people it’s also easier to both wrap their head around and calculate certain PPQN values.

Exponential growth in technology, as Ray Kurzweil said is definitely going on, but it’s not necessarily always a good thing, IMO lower PPQN numbers are less strain on the CPU, sure it’s not as scientifically accurate but it’s got it’s own charm that I hate losing…
