Sunday Synth Jam: In this video, synthesist Kris Lennox performs Section 1 from Telemann’s Fantasia #4 in Bb (originally for solo flute) on a Vermona ’14 keyboard synthesizer.
Here’s what Lennox has to say about the performance:
The initial plan was to record each Fantasia as a single piece, but each section is strong enough to act as a standalone recording. That, plus each section suits a new synth tone. Great pieces, great composer.
The solo flute repertoire is perhaps one of the best ways to make the most of a monosynth – no need for layering etc. And with Telemann, the purity of Baroque melodic lines really does shine through.
Beautiful sound! But don’t you just wish it were a polyphonic synth 🙂
They made the 6v synth back in the day, but it sounds completely different than the Vermona
