Sunday Synth Jam: Here’s another ‘Switched On’ style live performance from Art Of Moog – a UK ensemble made up of harpsichordists and baroque specialists, performing Bach on synthesizers.
In this live studio video, they perform JS Bach’s Adagio from the viola da gamba sonata BWV 1029, as featured in the film Truly, Madly, Deeply.
Seriously awesome !
Don’t say any time longer that synthesizers have no soul… They have heart, spirit and their own character. This performance provided it.
Totally agree! I was at my friends wedding this weekend, and was just blown away by the sheer amount of heart and spirit, the musician was able to transform into all those great hits from the 80′ right up to now. It wasn’t cheesy… at all!
Lovely sound – I’d love to hear them play one of the faster pieces.
Looks like all the melodies are played on Moogs, but the digital swirling backing sound effects come from the Nord Lead A1s (I counted at least 2 if not 3).
