Experimental Software Lets You Play A Video Game On Your Korg Prologue Or Minilogue XD

When Korg designed their Prologue and Minilogue XD synths, they included two traditional analog oscillators, plus a ‘Multi Engine’, capable of being used as a third oscillator, a noise source, or running third-party software.

The Multi Engine is already being used by many developers to add a variety of oscillators and effects to the Prologue and Minilogue XD. Vector, though, is new software for the Multi Engine that uses the platform in an experimental way.

Vector generates signals that are not intended for audio use, but to drive inputs to an oscilloscope, letting your synthesizer be used as a video game.

There are “8” enemy “X” characters, moving side to side at the top of the screen. Up to 4 of them will drop bombs at you at any time. Moving the Time and Depth controls lets you control your player and firing rate.

The developer notes that Vector is experimental software and should be used at your own risk. See the project site for details.

  1. Finally an oscillator that I can play space invaders on my oscilloscope! I dig it though, in the fact that it’s hard to set up, mostly useless, dangerous, and mesmerizing.
