Bitwig has announced a free sound sound library for Bitwig Studio, Orchestral Strings.
Here’s what they have to say about it:
“Orchestral Strings contains top-of-the-line recordings by esteemed virtual instrument-makers Orchestral Tools, a leading creator of premium symphonic sample collections and virtual instruments for professional composers, such as the Berlin Series and Tom Holkenborg’s Brass and Percussion.
Inside Orchestral Strings you’ll find various articulations and notes of plucks, sustained bows and accents, already organized into categories like Pizzicato and Tremolo in the Bitwig Sampler. They’re also incorporated into a variety of creative presets that use Note FX and other processing, so they’re ready for composition right out of the box. All you have to do is download the package.”

Pricing and Availability
Orchestral Strings is available now as a free download for Bitwig Studio users with an active Upgrade Plan.
That’s a very sonically competitive plug-in. Bitwig’s offerings are coming up alongside Logic’s in scope and far better in this case. You always end up adding specialty or fringe pieces to your rig, but having the strings this well covered frees you up for more branching out.
I saw no end date, but today at least, Bitwig is on sale for $299, a break of $100. If I was a non-Mac newbie, I’d be all over it. Just IMO as a fairly seasoned DAW user, this is a best-choice pick if you’re not going with Live.
