Improvised Ambient Music For Voice & Novation Summit

This video captures a short improvised ambient set, by husband and wife duo Tefty & Meems.

The performance features voice & Novation Summit. Here’s what the duo shared about the technical details:

“Everything was recorded into Ableton Live with no click. Additionally we added Luftrum field recordings into the mix afterwards for some extra ambience. The vocals and field recordings had some extra spatial effects added from Glitchmachines Fracture and Hysteresis plugins.”

  1. Actually, since there isn’t any linguistic intelligibility in the vocals, you could easily do almost exactly the same performance using, a few Ethera libraries, a polyphonic synth of your choice, and some VST effects. It sounds pretty, but it isn’t something that is either unique or difficult to achieve.

    1. does it have to be unique or difficult to have the right to be broadcast?
if it’s so easy to make, I can’t wait to see what you can produce…

    2. Actually, since there isn’t any linguistic intelligibility in the comment above, you could easily do almost the same thing using a thesaurus, a dictionary, an internet connection and the monkey of your choice typing on a laptop. The comment looks ok, but it isn’t something that is either unique or difficult to achieve.

      1. It’s a fair comment though. If the original post had said that it was the best thing they’d ever heard, I doubt you or the others would all post messages saying that is wasn’t the best thing and that you could easily do almost exactly the same performance etc etc. It’s just someone’s opinion about a highly subjective medium and yes, I also think it’s simple and yes, I also think that i could try that. Do I think it would sound as good? No, I don’t think it would sound unique or difficult because I’m not that imaginative or creative but hey, that’s just my opinion.

  2. It doesn’t need to be difficult to be beautiful. Easy or not, I would have been happy if I had composed this type of song.

  3. I’ve followed them on YouTube for quite a while. A great channel with great tutorials and a lot of beautiful music both with and without Meems’ ethereal vocals.
