Moog Muse 8-Voice Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer (Sneak Preview)

It looks like Moog’s still-to-be-announced new polysynth may be called the ‘Muse’, rather than the ‘Mirror’.

In the last month or so, several teaser images for a new Moog synth have been shared on social media – including some images via Andrew Huang, and a glimpse in one of Moog’s official videos. The speculation has been that the new synth would be called the Moog Mirror, because the company had trademarked that name.

Moog has not officially made an announcement on this yet, but a new image, shared by @therealmikedean (via reddit), teases the Moog Muse, an 8-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer. The Moog Muse promises to deliver something a lot of people have been asking for – a more affordable Moog polysynth.

Official details for the Moog Muse are still be to be announced. In the meantime, share your thoughts on the Moog Muse – and the possibility of a ‘midrange Moog’, in the comments!

  1. They way overplayed the tease campaign here. It started off as a potentially good idea, but now it’s just irritating and leaving a sour taste. There’s an art to doing this kind of thing successfully, and the marketing department they have now clearly doesn’t have that skill.

  2. It looks cheap in the photo. Will probably sound good though. I wonder what “more affordable” means to moog. Probably $999.99. Still excited though, clear up some of the speculation on quality issues.

      1. From your reaction it would seem moving manufacturing to China will be a good business move for them (and for inMusic), Like you most people don’t care about manufacturing origin, they see a name that is supposed to mean a good product, looks nice in pictures, and has a lower price than before. sold.
But I think this was designed before inMusic so it will probably be 4k$.

        1. My reaction said all that? I need to react better. I just thought I was commenting on how it looked but assuming it’ll sound good cause Moog.

The gray plastic arrow buttons and the cylinder sliders isnt doing it any favors. I think they use those plastic buttons on my kids Sonic the Hedgehog racecar remote control.
The post does mention the possibility of it being more affordable so we’ll see.

          1. I was referring to Schubert reaction πŸ™‚
Almost any synth is more affordable then the Moog one.
You can’t really judge the quality of the controller by looking at its caps, caps and sliders/faders are something you often order separately, I know this kind of caps from a professional high-end eq so each with his own connotation.
They do seem practical for performance and give an illustrated look of the mixer state with good contrast to the black panel.

      1. I would buy a moog moose, moog llama, heck even a buffalo.

The sliders in this picture btw remind me of the polymoog which seems like a neat reference point especially with a ring mod mix fader in there. i’m hopeful for this.

  3. Still in sneak preview?

Jesus we’ve known about it for months

We’ll have died of boredom by the time it’s actually revealed

    1. Square inch by square inch, knob by knob, fader by fader we get teased – maybe we can put the puzzle together!

Marketing departments trying to prove their right to exist.

      1. I’m not even curious about the rest of it, will see when it shipped.
But it seems their advertising works on you both

          1. Good point, we do talk about it but I’m not impatient or “dying of boredom” because of a teaser picture. At Least wait for the price to get so emotionel πŸ™‚

            1. “We’ll have died of boredom by the time it’s actually revealed”

neither of these things have happened yet

  4. Are you psychonuts, guys?
999$ for poly analog, even manufactured in China?
No way. Barbinger asking 1300$ for UB-Xa.
    I expect 3000$ price tag.
It “cheap” in comparison with Moog One.

And I fear it will sound worse than monophonic Moogs.
It’s the same story. One, pro-800, polybrute sounds worse than monophonics.

    1. Agreed, the Matrixbrute carries a lot more punch than the polybrute. Crap ton heavier too which means more awesome by the pound. I do miss the matrixbrute but i dont program the poly too much lately.

  5. I have a hunch it will look like a synthesizer and sound like one too, but who knows what those crazy folks at InMusic have in store for us.

  6. I’m interested by the fact the mod osc has a section on the mixer – if it were vca mod amount I imagine it would be distinct, so it must have some independent audio capability, not just be an lfo. I wonder if it will just be the analog waves like the third osc on the minimoog, but then why call it mod osc, or will it have *gasp* digital waves.

  7. Those mixer sliders smell a bit like cheese. Moog’s synths all sound good, but if it has a build that makes you follow the bouncing springs, then ACK! I won’t try to gauge it prematurely.

Both the Moog One and Prophet X have had various crashes and cries for bug fixes. I prefer a middle-of-the-road synth that performs to a flagship that keeps hitting the rocks. All TBD in this case. I haven’t had a dog in the Moog hunt since I mowed lawns to buy a Minimoog.

  8. Don’t love the cheap looking octave select button and wtf are those corny looking triangles in the top right of each section? LEDs? Glad I finally pulled the plug on a Grandmother. I might be more inclined to go Behringer than buy anything else Moog (or “moos”).

  9. I wish they would make eurorack version of this type of stuff..
I don’t want huge synths . other than that seems good idea

  10. Almost feels like everyone forgot the matriarch, 4 voice paraphonic,, under 2k. 6 or 8 voice moog under 1500 would be a fast seller, especially if it was light enough to move to gigs.
