Here’s an overview and demo from Superbooth 2024 of the new Korg Acoustic Synthesis Phase 8.
Sonic State caught up with Korg Berlin’s Lukas Hartmann, who was demonstrating the unique electronically controlled acoustic instrument.
The Korg Acoustic Synthesis_phase8 is an electronically controlled acoustic instrument, that is part melodic synthesizer, part drum machine. At the heart of the instrument are several individual resonators that you can control electronically or by physically touching them.
The Acoustic Synthesis_phase8 is being positioned as a product prototype. Korg plans to officially introduced the instrument next year.
Or you could use a kalimba with built-in pick-up system with 6.3 mm jack socket thru a multi-fx pedal

I do
I actually appreciate that they are trying something new. This sounds quite interesting and if the pricing is right I think I would probably buy one.
A chromatic version of this would be really cool. Maybe they could use pitch shifters on the output stage to give users more octaves too.
I’d love to see this as a this as a full size keyboard instrument like a rhodes with that same customizability and access to the tines/resonated.
