  1. Am I the only one who gave up on the ‘free Kontakt Player”. I think it’s terrible software, with a horrible user interface, and you have to go through many hooplas to get it installed and up to date.

Maybe it’s because I’m on a Mac? It feels so Windowsy. Invasive. Alien. Hostile.

This is yet another wonderfully sounding library that I will need to skip because of it’s tied to that that player.

    1. Funny, I just installed some NI stuff that I got as freebies with a new midi keyboard, and while some of the presets are nice, man what a confusing mess of software with an abysmal UI. Just thinking about it is giving me anxiety lol. I think I’ll uninstall it all tomorrow morning.

    2. I dunno. It is a bit cumbersome, but installing libraries for Decent Sampler is also a bit awkward. The UI for UVI Workstation is also a bit strange now. I think the UI complexities involved in open sampler formats are a symptom of the complexities running under the hood of these players. That said, I’m using NI, UVI, Decent and Opus on a daily basis without any major problems, but no interfaces and install methods are without issues.

  2. I spent way too much time trying to get this installed and I just gave up. I really wanted to give this a shot but It’s not worth the hassle.

  3. NI is a great source of friction. I learned that early on when I started using software synths. The process was often all but hostile. Its a shame that Kontakt has such a grip on things when the libraries are often so interesting, but that just creates a new challenge: find another way. It takes a little time, but you can build an inviting rig that just works. Anyone who updates too often is usually trying to hook you in some way.
