Steinberg Nuendo 14 Adds AI-Powered Speech-To-Text Transcription & More

Steinberg has released Nuendo 14, a major update to their DAW that they describe as “the new standard in audio post-production and game audio”.

New features include AI-powered speech-to-text technology, a powerful mixing assistant, enhanced event volume curves and range tool editing. Game audio designers can now preview sound effects from Audiokinetic’s Wwise before exporting them, and there are 30+ additional new features, plug-ins and other improvements.

A core feature of Nuendo 14 is the integration of Adaptive Background Attenuation (ABA) by Fraunhofer IIS. This automates the delicate balance of a mix, ensuring that dialog remains consistently intelligible. By using the dialog stem as a reference, ABA intelligently attenuates loud background sounds, maintaining a user-defined minimum margin. This allows for clear foreground audio, without sacrificing overall mix control.

Additionally, the software incorporates AI-powered speech-to-text transcription, which facilitates the creation of ADR cycle markers from dialog tracks. This feature promises to save significant time by automating the transcription process, allowing audio professionals to focus on the creative aspects of their work.

  • Adaptive Background Attenuation (ABA) for automated mix balancing.
  • AI-powered dialog transcription.
  • Game Audio Connect 3 for sound effect previews within Audiokinetic Wwise.

  1. Long, long time user of Steinberg software-since Pro24 and Atari St days…
Still using Cubase though (ver.14 now) and to be honest never considered the move to Nuendo…

  2. Well, it’s not Steinberg anymore but, Reason studios have just released ReCycle 2.5
It is free as well and compatible with everything including Apple native support.
Did I mention it is free. ?
