Developer Vadim Minkin has introduced Kaleidoscope, a compact 4-track digital multitimbral synthesizer for creating generative music.
Kaleidoscope has 4 tracks, each with its own timbre. If you place the same timbres on all tracks, you can use it as a traditional polyphonic synthesizer.
It can generate sounds using several methods, including:
- Subtractive synthesis;
- Additive synthesis;
- Physical modeling synthesis; and
- FM synthesis
Kaleidoscope has a built-in generative sequencer for creating rhythmic and parametric patterns. The generative sequencer can be used to create rhythmic patterns and parametric arpeggios.
Pricing and Availability:
Pricing is expected to be 600 Euro, with details on availability still to come. See the developer’s site for details.
Price = 600 Euro according to timeline at the bottom of the page.
Interesting little device. Sort of part noise machine part sequencer. There’s quite a few more videos on their YouTube channel.
The best part of the video starts at 2:27 when the closed captions start putting words to the synth sounds – “they call me call me…” lol
