New Kaleidoscope Synthesizer A Compact Generative Sound Lab

Developer Vadim Minkin has introduced Kaleidoscope, a compact 4-track digital multitimbral synthesizer for creating generative music.

Kaleidoscope has 4 tracks, each with its own timbre. If you place the same timbres on all tracks, you can use it as a traditional polyphonic synthesizer.

It can generate sounds using several methods, including:

  • Subtractive synthesis;
  • Additive synthesis;
  • Physical modeling synthesis; and
  • FM synthesis

Kaleidoscope has a built-in generative sequencer for creating rhythmic and parametric patterns. The generative sequencer can be used to create rhythmic patterns and parametric arpeggios.

Pricing and Availability:

Pricing is expected to be 600 Euro, with details on availability still to come.  See the developer’s site for details.

  1. Interesting little device. Sort of part noise machine part sequencer. There’s quite a few more videos on their YouTube channel.

  2. The best part of the video starts at 2:27 when the closed captions start putting words to the synth sounds – “they call me call me…” lol
