Quietformat has introduced Melino, a sample-based virtual instrument for Mac & Windows.
Melino features six “vintage style” virtual instruments: Melloflute, Melloviolin, Xylophone, Vintage EP, W-200, and Home Piano. Each instrument can be used individually, or layered together.
?Here’s what they have to say about it:
“MELINO does not aim for hyper realistic accuracy.
Instead, it embraces warmth, texture, and the subtle imperfections that make sounds feel alive.
Its slightly rough edges give it a distinct personality and make it a perfect fit for retro music, cinematic scoring, and nostalgic sound design.”
Pricing and Availability:
Melino is available now, with an intro price of $49 USD (normally $69).
Very nice sounds, i like this Melino!
What I don’t like is the dirty front plate. yuck!
I do not have an hygienic phobia, like e.g.
Howard Hughes (in the film Aviator) but
this goes too far. if you’d want to bring in some
“hardware reality”,a few small tiny scratches
would do the trick as well.
I keep my real equipment as clean as possible.
This smudgy dirty front plate is disgusting
I have this problem with other software synths
too. e.g. fingerprints etc. on virtual moogs etc.
If you insist on keeping this “authentic fakeism”
then give us at least an option in the settings
menu to show a clean front panel image.
Kind regards
omg I thought I was the only one annoyed by weathered/dirty looking VSTs lol…
I realize now that this was something I had completely overlooked. As you mentioned, the texture was added with the intention of bringing a bit of hardware realism, but I didn’t consider that it could actually feel unpleasant. Thank you sincerely for your valuable feedback.
In the upcoming update, I will add an option to switch to a clean skin. This way, those who prefer a tidy panel can use it as well.
Thank you.
