Native Instruments Releases Super*Saw Software Synth

Native Instruments today introduced Super*Saw, a new software synthesizer designed around stacked sawtooth synthesis, developed in collaboration with producer A. G. Cook.

The instrument uses two independent oscillator banks, each containing up to 16 detuned saw waves, and combines them with an X/Y Morpher that continuously interpolates between four stored sound states.

Additional features include chord and scale constraints, per-voice glide and offset controls, multimode filtering, integrated effects, and a preset library covering a range of lead, chord, pad, and experimental sounds.

Features:

  • Two independent oscillator banks with up to 16 saw waves per bank
  • Four-corner X/Y Morpher for continuously blending between four stored sound states
  • Chord mode for generating harmonized voicings
  • Scale and quantize functions for constraining note output
  • Adjustable detune, spread, width, and retrigger parameters for each oscillator bank
  • Per-voice glide controls
  • Per-voice pitch offset controls
  • Stereo motion controls
  • Low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass filter modes
  • Selectable two-pole and four-pole filter slopes

  1. Skip to 14:00 (of dude talking about himself at around 5 “I’s” and “me’s” per sentence) to see the actual synth.
    It has sawteeth.
Controls seem fairly nifty So you can spread and move the sawteeth.

    1. Dude invented hyperpop together with Sophie and produced hits for Charli XCX, Beyoncé, Jónsi, Caroline Polachek, and Kesha. Might as well listen and learn something.

        1. His compositions and productions are great, if not for you. Would love to hear your collaborations or original compositions with the synth made for you. Drop a link.

          1. Don’t really get much time to make tunes anymore. My job keeps me busy enough. But I used to. I grew up listening to and was influenced by the Jungle, techno and “IDM” of the 90s and 2000s (Aphex, Squarepusher, Autechre, Orbital etc.) All this encouraged me to put some depth and complexity into my music whenever I did actually make any. When I hear people refer to Hyperpop and Charlie xcx as “great” I just have to have a laugh. Synthtopia probably removes links but here you go : https://on.soundcloud.com/pkYxVyc7EKLSFB6P9R
