There’s been an explosion recently of theremin videos on YouTube. It looks like it may be moving from being stereotyped as an exotic sci-fi instrument…..to being regarded as the electronic equivalent of the banjo.

With that in mind….here are ten things that I thought I’d never hear played on the theremin:

The Legend of Zelda Theme on theremin

Smoke On The Water On The theremin

And fayer in the ska ay!

Don’t Worry, Be Happy on theremin

My Funny Valentine On theremin

Video Killed The Radio Star On theremin

Tubular Bells On theremin

Diamonds are Forever On theremin

The Popeye Song On theremin

The Lion Sleeps Tonight On theremin

Love Me Tender On A Matrushka Doll theremin

      something to think about

I’ve been a chance artist since a little boy (neighbors thought I was strange, freezing colored liquids in the winter back yard to see the forms they’d take). Recognizing another chance art here was easy. Bending sonically explains chance the way Suminagashi and dye migration explain visually. All of these “sound” the same to me – see if you don’t think so. — Reed Ghazala
