Joel Zimmerman, aka Deadmau5, or at least someone that plays him on SoundCloud, just uploaded this “work in… progress? regress?” dub5stepthingie.

So you can hear it before it gets loose.

  1. Caught this on the Fbook. He's already updated this to dubstepthingie2. I'm not a big dubstep fan, but am a huge mau5 fan. This though… yikes. Kinda hurts to see it get publicity. The mau5 is so much better than this.

  3. The bass is killer. So is the production for a "demo". As always, Joel makes us all look like wankers with sound fonts and a SB live!

  6. A lot of people rag on deadmau5 for having a stock sound.

I think this is proof that his musical genius lies not in some "house music formula" but in solid production and creativity.

Can't wait to see how this progresses.

    • Not bad considering his first attempt at Dubstep, with more time and practice, I'm sure he'd destroy this genre just like the others. Great example of Deadmau5' versatility and extreme musical talent. Eagerly anticipating his new releases! I saw this at the Olympics also, nice pleasant surprise to throw into the mix.

  10. Yeah… What ARE you talking about? In my opinion, dubstep is a difficult genre to distinguish yourself in – if you're just whomping and wobbling like everyone else, you'll get a big yawn from the audience. These experimental sound clips just go to show that the mau5 has what it takes to destroy more genre than one.

Way to go man. Eagerly anticipating the release of some of these tracks

  12. it is somewhat repetitive, but ah well, that is dubstep for you, sounds similar to milanese. like the treatment of the beats, but the rest is somewhat boring. ah well….that is dubstep

  13. he's definitely playing this at all his shows now, he finished off his show in montclair, NJ the other night with this song and it was fucking amazing..everyone was going so hard to it, including me who was blown away by deadmau5's first attempt at dubstep, a genre of electronic music I'm sure with experience he'll be able to master

  14. u know nothing about dubstep, the people that are actually talented at the art know how to not make a repetitve ass song, like some (deadmau5)

  15. Humphrey: Oh, Stop!
    Noon: That's sick.
Frenchy: I agree. Nutter, you were singing in the wrong key!
Nutter: No I wasn't. It was Loutzenheiser. I was singing in Eb minor.
Frenchy: The song's in F# major!
Bell: I think they're the same thing. I mean, Eb is the relative minor of F#.
Frenchy: No, it isn't. The relative minor is 3 half-tones down from the major, not up!
Noon: No, it's 3 down. Like A is the relative minor of C major.
    Loutzenheiser: But isn't A# in C major?
Bell: Wait, are you singing mixolydian scales, or something?
Frenchy: A# is tonic to C major. It's the 6!
    Humphrey: No it isn't!
Swan: Well, it'd be like a raised 13th if anything.
Frenchy: Oh well. You guys are just a bunch of loser diggers anyhow!
Humphrey: Oh see. You know we're right!

  16. deadmau5 has no talent whatsoever when it comes to dubstep. he needs to leave it alone and create more mindless house albums like hes good at. leave the real music to people with an ear for it
