Sound designer Dirk Rohde (XU Sounddesign) shared this ‘shut up and play’ style demo of the Alesis Andromeda A6, considered by many to be one of the greatest synthesizers ever created.
Sounds are from all the Alesis Andromeda A6, with some external reverb and delay effects.
If you’re interested in the sound library, contact Rohde via the information he shared with the video.
It sure would be nice if Alesis made a new Andromeda with a large amount of memory for large quantities of patch storage – maybe even a removable SSD drive and/or USB sticks, tighter pots since there are so many knobs, improve the sequencer and definitely make the unit BLACK. Just dreaming.
And/or a new Ion with many of the same.
I’ve spoken to a lot of people there, and many are equally frustrated. It’s all InMusic Corporate Conglomerate culture. There’s no incentive to make something super cool, just cheap and sellable.
It seems so strange, at this point, that Alesis made one of the greatest analog synths of all time, and that they were making them when analog was sort of dead at most other companies.
The Andromeda must have been somebody’s passion project, because I don’t remember Alesis doing anything like it before or after.
Axel Hartmann helped design it. He’s created a good many of the industries synths as seen at https://axelhartmanndesign.com/about/ Sadly with Alesis going bankrupt and subsequently purchased, things never got better.
You can’t think of them like a regular synth company. They rent factory space rather tan doing their own manufacturing, meaning it costs them money to run a unique item and saves them nothing by running something that’s been out of production. The owners literally do not care about music, they just make stuff to hit a market. The cheaper stuff is better because it’s lower risk. The more similar it is to other stuff on the market the better.
Black and white synths are boring, more fun colors please! Life is already depressing enough.
Black synths look cool until you get them on stage and the lighting is terrible.
Waiting for Uli to make this babe again
That would be mental… instant buy from me lol
This is one project we can almost guarantee the original manufacturer will not make again or even give is a sequel to, so I am 100% behind Behringer cloning this. Also the original units have too many problems for me to spend car level money on one.
I’m dubious about this being taken on as a new hardware synth. It would seem hard to offer it for less than several thousand bucks, since it was a flagship to being with. As software, though, it could have long legs. I’d take that up the same way I went for a Chroma. The demos make it feel all the more inspiring.
What a pointless demo when external fx are used
Show us your video mate
Yeah, the fx sounds great don’t they!
had one, sold it. glad i did.
