Romagnetics Midynamite Open-Source MIDI Effects Processor

Developer Romain Dereu shared this video intro to the Romagnetics Midynamite, a compact, battery-powered MIDI multi-effects pedal.

It can function as a standalone pedal or as a USB MIDI interface for a computer. It features three physical MIDI DIN 5-pin connectors and USB MIDI device support.

The pedal can be used in a variety of ways, including being a MIDI clock source, splits, layering, transposition, harmonization and more.

The Romagnetics Midynamite is available pre-built for $249 USD. The code is open source and available via Github.

    Thanks a lot for your question!
    What do you mean by MIDI dispatch?
    In midi_modify, you can send any signal and redirect it to one or two other channels if that’s what you mean.

    PS: I apologize if this is posted twice. I posted a similar response yesterday but it didn’t show.

    1. Hey Romain. Thanks for taking the time replying to my question. Usually what a midi dispatcher performs is indeed to route MIDI notes and related messages received on one MIDI channel to several channels. This allows you for example to play a set of monophonic synths as one poly-synth or layer synths played using a single keyboard.(hope this make any sense). Thanks again

      1. Hey Sid, first of all, the pleasure is mine. I’ve been developing the pedal for months so I’m delighted to get feedback!

        The Midynamite has this functionality in MIDI modify.
        You can either layer up to two midi channels to play several synth groups at the same time.
        There’s also a split mode in which each hand plays a different channel.

        I received a request to smooth the transition when in split mode, it will be added for the next update.

        Don’t hesitate if you have other ideas to expand on the dispatcher functionalities !

        1. Cheers mate!. Just to be sure prior to order the Midynamite. If i play lets say a chord (3 notes on my right hand) and lets say i play two additional notes (at the same time with my left hand) and i have 5 monosynths each connected to a midi splitter connected to the midynamte. The midynamite (which is connected to a midi controller keyboard). Will send the 5 combined notes and split each into a separate midi channel for the notes to be sent to each monosynths?. Hope this makes any sense ?. Thanks again. Sid

            Glad you explained in details because the Midynamite does’nt have this function currently.

            If I understand you correctly, you want a Poly to Mono function.
            The poly mono takes notes, and tries to split them so that a synth doesn’t receive a note on unless the note it has been given has had a note off. If more notes than synths are played, we can define an order (last, high, low, etc) based on the amount of connected synths (which you will be able to change as a setup).

            Here is my question: does the order of synths matter, or do you have the same 5 mono synths connected? We can do crazy settings with this but for the next version (planned for December), I will probably make a first version which treats each signal equally.

            Also, since I want all functions to be able to work together, I will probably treat split that way. When in split & poly to mono mode, the left hand will go to one midi channel and the right hand will handle the poly to mono. Would that be an issue for you? I don’t assume anyone would play polyphonic basses but you never know.
