Dave Smith Instruments OB-6 Keyboard Sound Design

This video, via PerfectCircuitAudio, explores some custom sound design with the Dave Smith Instruments OB-6 synthesizer:

The OB-6 is a new 6-voice synthesizer, with an analog signal path and discrete VCOs and filters. It was developed in collaboration with Tom Oberheim.

Offering a sound engine inspired by Oberheim’s original SEM (the core of his 4-voice and 8-voice synthesizers), the new instrument is designed to provide the vintage SEM tone with the stability and flexibility of modern technology.

Check it out and let us know what you think of its sound!

  2. Man is that nice sounding. Amazing combination of two companies designs and ideas.

Imagine what the next iteration will be like, if they continue!

  3. DSI – PLEASE – Make multi-timbral desktop versions of your synths! I don’t know why MT is no longer important in poly synths. Remembering the Six Trak/Multi Trak/Max, etc….
