The S From Hell – quite possibly the best documentary of all time.
For people of a certain age.
Give it about five minutes.
The S From Hell is a documentary-cum-horror film about the scariest corporate symbol in history, the 1964 Screen Gems logo, aka The S From Hell, and its scary synthesized Moog sound logo by Eric Siday.
Built around interviews with survivors still traumatized from viewing the logo after shows like Bewitched or The Monkees, the film brings their stories to life with animation, found footage, and reenactments.
For those that remember the symbol being quite creepy, this short reminds you that you’re not alone harboring such memories. For those that aren’t familiar, you’ll soon see why this insignia once freaked out kids across America.
