André Gonçalves “For Super 8 Projector And Analog Synthesizer”

Ready for something that’s a bit out there?

Then check out André Gonçalves For Super 8 Projector And Analog Synthesizer:

This is a totally diferent work from my previous ones and my first project playing solo with only an analog synth with which i have been playing in collective ensembles for more than four years in improvised contexts.

The super 8 projector was hacked so that the amplitude of the sound played controls the intensity of the light bulb and also control the speed of the projector flickering.

The performance develops in several stages, with different burning processes and different sound approaches.

  1. It sounded like somone changing frequencies
on an old style radio and then filming a frame of film in
    a projector being melted.

    I don't get it.

  2. God, the last sound really hurt my ears. Wtf was the point of that. I've made music that does that before, but it doesn't accomplish anything. Wasn't even an interesting tone, just a basic sounding frequency.
