Dual iPad Duel: Jordan Rudess vs Rob Math

Ever wonder what happens during all that down time that musicians get at the NAMM Show?

More often than not, they end up challenging each other to musical duels. If not to the death, at least to the pain.

Fortunately, Jordan Rudess & Rob Math managed to avoid these unpleasantries and stick to melting faces with their dual iPad duel at the WInter NAMM Show.

Part 2 of this iPad vs iPad music duel below. Mano-a-mano. iPad to iPad.

And watch out for Rudess’s special nose technique!

  1. Jordan Rudess starts to remind of the first scene of the film "the party" with peter sellers ( you know the actor that doesn't want to live from the scene…..)
He is either the biggest attention seeker in the business, or he could easily dive into our pockets for the change.

  2. That made me unbelievably happy. You could see how these two guys poured their whole life force, unabashedly, into this absolutely magnificent piece. They must achieve a state of nirvana while in the grip of this ecstasy that almost no one else on Earth ever has. They literally are indistinguishable from their instruments. That's a beautiful thing.

I know a lot of people here detest Jordan Rudess, but as far as I'm concerned, if he wants to shamelessly self-promote, no one can argue he doesn't have the talent to back it up! 🙂

  3. Well he can do whatever he wants , after all its a free planet , however he renders each and every video of music technology useless.
Because the idea behind these is to get information and see what is possible with the specific product, not someone's keyboard skills and preset-changing abilities.

  4. Kinda nice to hear the Rhodes and Hammond emulations on the Kronos actually being played instead of just demoed as sounds. The nose trick reminds me when I used to use my big toe to play sustained notes on my Micromoog while I played guitar. Some things never go out of style!
