Here’s a demo that combines thee voices on the Ambika with some Moog Little Phatty.
The Ambika is a new DIY polyphonic synthesizer project.
Pricing and availability for the Mutable Instruments Ambika are TBA.
This thing has me excited.
Had there ever been a DIY poly synth kit before?
you can chain shruthis for polyphony, but for standalone i don’t think so
Yes – Powertran (of Transcendent 2000 fame) also release the DPX kit , never actually seen one so I don’t know if anybody built it. The DPX as I recall was very limited tho , more a limited poly/strings machine. Probably with divide down circuits rather than individual oscs per voice.
Just…
Can’t…
Wait…
I have been waiting for this thing since before it was announced, it is in my mind the logical consequence of the Shruthi.
A handful of people have successfully built Ambika from the “release candidates” bare boards I sold a few weeks ago – with a few hiccups only in the part sourcing process… I’m sure more and more demo videos showcasing the polyphonic/multitimbral capacities of the beast will show up in the next weeks!
By far the most interesting DIY kit I’ve ever seen. This video doesn’t really show how impressive it is.
Really looking forward to this. Got an old, no-longer-functioning synth that I really want to gut and use as a casing for this thing. That would be utterly glorious.
