HÄXAN, by Abre Ojos, Offers ‘66.6 Minutes Of Morphing Mandalas And Electronic Drones’

Reader Scott Baker has released a new electronic music DVD, HÄXAN, under his Abre Ojos moniker.

HÄXAN is 66.6 minutes of 6 audio-visual tracks of drone/noise, based on the 1922 film, Häxan – Witchcraft Through the Ages. Tracks were built using a Eurorack modular synth and vocals, processed through Native Instruments Maschine. The result, according to Baker, is “66.6 minutes of morphing mandalas and electronic drones, ranging from noise to warm tones that wrap you like a blanket.”

Here’s a shot of the studio setup used:

Häxan – Witchcraft Through the Ages is a Swedish/Danish silent horror film written and directed by Benjamin Christensen. The footage has been cut up, reversed, inverted, time shifted and looped.
