The Korg MS-20 Mini Filter

Synthesist Marc Doty continues his series of videos looking at the Korg MS-20 Mini, with a pair of videos looking at the Mini’s filter.

Above, part one of his look at the MS-20 Mini Filter, part two below.

The Korg Mini MS-20 is a faithful recreation of the circuitry and sound of the original MS-20. The synth’s structure features two VCO’s, 2 VCA’s, 2 VCF’s, 2 envelope generators and an LFO. Patching is done with scaled-down 1/8? cables. And circuitry has been added for MIDI support – so you play it with the mini-keyboard, play it with a full size keyboard or sequence it with other analog gear.

  1. This series is a little thick on the fluster.
There’s no need to say “heh, now *this* is a real synth” every 3 minutes.

    Other than that, well presented.
I know better what to try if I sit down with one again
(or, well, last time was so long ago as to not matter really. The owner tried to synch it with an analog sequencer and tape, after that everyone important had headaches, so I got some good time with the Korg.)
