Critter & Guitari Pocket Piano MIDI Now 17% Cooler

Pocket Piano GR

Chris at Critter & Guitari let us know that their Pocket Piano MIDI has been updated with new color options and a new firmware update that makes it at least 17% cooler.

New firmware for the Pocket Piano introduces a new mode, so there are now seven modes. By our highly scientific calculations (7/6*100=117) that makes it 17% cooler.

They also all have a new hold function. You can see the new hold feature in action at C&G’s Instagram.

in addition, C&G now offer the Pocket Piano MIDI in a Green anodized enclosure. See the C&G site for details.

Owners of older Pocket Pianos can send them in to C&G for a firmware update to get the new functions. The firmware update includes the seven modes (up from six on from models other than the Pocket Piano GR) and the hold.

In other news, they released another bizarro animation (by Devin Flynn) that explains techniques for using their instruments. In the video, Critter and Guitari take a trip to Japan for their tour and meet a Japanese band, The Yeah Buddy Yokai, who show C & G their techniques:

The Critter and Guitari Pocket Piano is available now, priced starting at $175.

  1. Checked out their stuff at NAMM this year and I loved it. Great synths that are a lot of fun to mess with!

And man that video is freaky, even by like Adult Swim absurdest humor standards.

    1. This is one more reason that open source is a good idea. The original pocket piano kit was based on the Arduino, and anyone with an AVR programmer could update the Synth in a minute with the right files.
