1:37 Of Keytar Shredding

Sunday Synth Jam: In this video, Fabrizio Muratori delivers 1:37 of keytar shredding on the Alesis Vortex keytar.

There is, unfortunately, no time for ‘synth face’ shots in this video. instead, the video captures a short keytar solo on Bad Cable Day, composed by ‘freak guitarist’ Mattias IA Eklundh.

  1. ok… I never thought Keytars could be something cool (you know Modern Talking etc…)
    BUT this here, ROCKS!
    Well done dude. Cool

  2. A question….why do we always hear keytarists…and keyboard soloists in the rock genre…emulating guitarists? What is the standard for the KEYBOARD in this setting?

I only bring this up after fielding the comment from a friend about this video, “Sounds like a guitar-player wannabe.” I was pissed. Thought about it for a bit, and even realized that Jordan Rudess sounds a lot like a guitarist much of the time.

Who is out there, creating something original for our instrument of choice?
